Fitness Expert

Hey loves! My name is Coach Ki and I am proud to be an enthusiastic upbeat personal trainer who has over six years of experience in inspiring holistic health – physical, mental, and spiritual.

 

My path to becoming a fitness expert began the moment I decided to take my physical transformation into my own hands. Like many of you, I struggled with feeling lost with using gym machines, not knowing how to get dream results after spending countless hours at the gym and having to figure out a realistic diet to support my goals. I also had to balance a busy schedule as a doctoral candidate, stay motivated, overcome body dysmorphia and develop confidence at every stage of my transformation. After falling in love with my journey to holistic health, I acquired a wealth of knowledge that I now use to help fitness clients like you live a sustainable healthy lifestyle.

Physical Health

Tired of being misguided by dismissive and inattentive personal trainers, I decided to become a fitness coach in 2019. I was fed-up with being self-conscious about my body after my last coach trained me to rapidly drop from150 to 100 lbs. in four months. Going from a size 8 to a size double 0 all my clothes started to fall off of me despite me being much flabbier. I learned the hard way that trusting his constant pressure to prioritize heavy cardio and a meager diet pushed me further away from being toned and curvy.

 

Although I felt disappointed, discouraged, and helpless for years, I refused to be defeated. To achieve my dream results, I developed expertise in weight training, muscle building, nutritional eating, and serving as a healthy lifestyle coach. Not only have I successfully regained 50 lbs. of healthy body weight, but I have also mastered the science of body recomposition and weight loss. My goal now is to prevent clients from experiencing the same frustrations I did! This is why I offer personalized training programs that are responsive and adaptable to individual desires, needs, lifestyles, and comfort levels.

Mental Health

Life taught me at an early age the intimate connection between mental and physical health. Throughout childhood, I watched several family members suffer and pass on from preventable illnesses: stroke, kidney failure, lung cancer, and obesity. Before their physical health deteriorated, I realized their unaddressed mental health challenges led them to unhealthy coping mechanisms.

 

Discouraged from acknowledging their depression, anxiety, or stress, especially in the Black community, my relatives ran to a life of overeating, alcoholism, and cigarette addiction to escape their psychological pain. Overtime, their mental decline became reflected in their physical decline.

 

Wanting to prevent this from happening to others drives my current devotion to helping clients identify and address stressors that hinder self-control, consistency, and motivation to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Mental fortitude is the first step to physical transformation.

Spiritual Health

Since I was a teenage girl, God has helped me to carry on when physical and mental progress were not enough. I loved the unexplainable feelings of joy, peace, relief, and gratefulness the moment I would step foot into my old southern Baptist Church with Gran Gran every Sunday. The presence of God’s word, the choir singing old school gospel songs and the outpour of prayers gave me a divine sense of strength, a light on some of my darkest days.

 

The mere act of worshipping God reduced stress, boosted my contentment, improved my patience and uplifted my spirits. My goal as a God-fearing fitness coach is to honor Him in my training style, fitness classes and group events – ultimately, offering an alternative fitness space to build and grow in spiritual community.
